Go Ara's First Adult-Rated Historical Drama

Actress Go Ara expressed her feelings about trying out her first 19th-rated historical drama in five years.

At the production presentation of the original TVING series "The Scandal of Chunhwa" held at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall in Seoul on the 5th, Go Ara shared her background and feelings about playing the role of Princess Hwari.

"The Scandal of Chunhwa" is a romantic youth historical drama about the greatest playboy Hwan (Chang Ryul) and the most-wanted groom Jang Won (Kang Chan-hee) being caught up as Princess Hwari (Go Ara), who fails her first love, declares that she will find her groom herself.

"It's been 5 years. I've been ready".

Go Ara, who returns to the drama after five years and a historical drama after about 10 years, laughed, saying, "I carefully chose the work for a long time to film such an interesting work. I was preparing for a different traditional historical drama even before I started filming", she said, stressing that there was no pressure on the work.

In particular, she explained why "The Scandal of Chunhwa" was organized as adult-rated, saying, "The message that the work wants to say is clear and the contents of the series are naturally included, so there seems to be a reason why it should be 19 and above".

"I can read the script well. I don't have to worry about making a choice"

The work was originally supposed to be played by actress Go Ah-sung, but Go Ara joined the team as Go Ah-sung was dropped out due to injury. In response, Go Ara recalled the time, saying, "Thankfully, I was lucky to get the script. As soon as I read the script, there comes a moment when everyone has to choose in life, and I sympathized with Hwari's choices", she said, adding, "The lines are so fun and the filming atmosphere is good that I was able to enter without any burden".

This work is also Go Ara's first OTT challenge. Expectations are high on what new charms she will show in OTT, where she has played a key role in terrestrial broadcasting and cable broadcasting.

"The Scandal of Chunhwa" is a adult-rated romance and is drawing attention with sensuous production and different story development from existing historical dramas. It will be first released on TVING on February 6th.
