[HanCinema's News] Ahn Yong-joon Discusses his Wife's Miscarriages

On March 17th, actor Ahn Yong-joon and his wife VENNY appeared on the Channel A variety show Golden Counseling Center to discuss their difficulties getting pregnant. One such topic involved the difficulty of their conceiving a child at all. They had started trying to get pregnant about two years ago, but VENNY suffered three or four miscarriages during this time. VENNY turned forty-five years old this year, and her age made her a higher risk for getting pregnant at all.

But the personal element was also discussed. VENNY confessed to feeling that her growing belly hair and scars would make her unattractive to her husband. These feelings of apprehension date back to when they were first married, as there were many negative online comments about their age gap. Ahn Yong-joon is currently only thirty-five years old. VENNY cried thinking about how sad she was not being able to show her pretty self to her husband.

Though Ahn Yong-joon was not generally a tearful person, he also confessed to being in a sadder mood worrying about his pregnant wife, even sharing some of her pregnancy symptoms. When VENNY did not quickly get back to him after a query, Ahn Yong-joon said that he got apprehensive and even started biting his fingernails. The doctor who ran the variety show quantified this in terms of adult separation anxiety, as she counseled the couple on the other issues.

Regarding VENNY's apparent unattractiveness, Ahn Yong-joon denied finding his pregnant wife to be ugly. To the contrary, Ahn Yong-joon claimed that he was thankful because she was more beautiful than ever. VENNY was seven months pregnant at the time the episode of Golden Counseling Center was filmed.
