A recent news report has confirmed that Do Sang-woo will be joing the cast of "Alchemy of Souls" in its second part. Do Sang-woo will take on the role of Seo Yoon-oh, an important relative of the Seo household. The main character in "Alchemy of Souls" who is part of the Seo household is played by Hwang Minhyun. Because the Seo household is located far from the capital city, they have not been a major part of the drama in "Alchemy of Souls" despite their strong implied political influence in the setting.

This casting news suggests that the Seo family will take on a larger role in the second part of "Alchemy of Souls" though details about the next part of the fantasy historical drama remain vague. It is not yet known when it will even begin airing. "Little Women" has already been confirmed to take over its timeslot on September 3rd. "Alchemy of Souls" may return to tvN after "Little Women" has completed airing, much as "Arthdal Chronicles" came back after "Hotel Del Luna" finished airing in 2019.
