In a statement, former TV Chosun President Bang Jung-oh insisted he was free of wrongdoing in the Jang Ja-yeon case. The statement follows a KBS News at 9 Report on March 21st that claims he had help from police to delete an incriminating phone call made between him and Jang Ja-yeon.

The TV Chosun channel has said that the report is slander. They are threatening to pursue ethical action through various journalism boards as well as considering legal action.
It is a matter of acknowledged fact that Bang Jung-oh had a drink with Jang Ja-yeon lasting for an hour back in 2009. Bang Jung-oh has stated they had no contact after that point, but doubts have lingered to his truthfulness on this count.
Bang Jung-oh resigned from his position as president of TV Chosun late last year after a recording of his ten-year-old daughter abusing the family chaffeur went viral. His shadow nonetheless maintains a powerful presence in the South Korean media industry.
