By William Schwartz | Published on
In a recent interview, Hyun Bin talked about his personal life and career. This is ahead of the release of the film "Confidential Assignment 2: International" on September 7th. The comedy action movie is the first box office release for Hyun Bin since "Rampant" back in 2018. "Confidential Assignment 2: International" is the sequel to "Confidential Assignment" from 2017, which earned 7.81 million admissions at the South Korean box office.

"Confidential Assignment 2: International" has Hyun Bin play a North Korean agent who once again teams up with a hapless South Korean counterpart played Yoo Hae-jin. "Confidential Assignment 2: International" also features Lim Yoona as the sister of Yoo Hae-jin's character, with Daniel Henney playing an American FBI agent. Lee Seok-hoon of "The Pirates" and "The Himalayas" is the director of the film, which is enjoying a boost in interest thanks to Hyun Bin's increased profile from "Crash Landing on You" from two years ago.
"Confidential Assignment 2: International" is now the first project where Hyun Bin has had to do a North Korean accent. He expressed gratitude to people for loving the job he has been doing with that. As with the previous projects, Hyun Bin said he studied with his North Korean dialect teacher for three months ahead of filming. However, he notes that all three projects required different training, noting that his "Confidential Assignment" and "Crash Landing on You" character have different dialects and intonation.
According to Hyun Bin, he signed up for "Confidential Assignment 2: International" mainly because he had heard from fans that they really loved "Confidential Assignment" and so wanted to be involved. Hyun Bin said that he was prepared to do the film with a new cast, but was happy that the other actors also agreed to do a sequel. Hyun Bin called out Yoo Hae-jin in particular as being a comfortable and pleasant older professional with whom he spoke freely about the best way to keep scenes from going cold.
Hyun Bin also had positive confidents about Lim Yoona as his love interest. Her character had also appeared in "Confidential Assignment" in a smaller role, and Hyun Bin said he was impressed at the time with the strong performance put in relative to her screen time. Hyun stated that he had fun shooting scenes with all three of the principle leads, all of whom have different, humorous approaches and chemistry.
