[HanCinema's News] Interest in Gang Dong-won's "Golden Slumber" Spikes

On Sunday night (February 17th) the OCN television channel introduced "Golden Slumber" into its film rotation. The thriller, starring Gang Dong-won and Han Hyo-joo, scored surprisingly high internet search traffic during its airing.

The reason why this is surprising is that "Golden Slumber" was not a popular film when it was initially released. Strong cast notwithstanding, its admissions topped out at 1,387,564. It currently has a 6.29 rating on Naver and a 5.2 rating on Daum. Criticisms mostly boiled down to the movie feeling too generic.
HanCinema's own Orion liked the film, for whatever that's worth. The spike in interest may indicate that "Golden Slumber" has a better future as popular cable programming than as the blockbuster it was originally planned to be. The film is based off of a 2008 Japanese novel by the same title, that title itself being a reference to a popular Beatles song. A Japanese film adaptation was also released in 2010.
