On March 17th persons close to "Itaewon Class" confirmed that the popular drama's closing rollout would be significantly downscaled due to COVID-19. Originally "Itaewon Class" was going to hold a special closing event to celebrate the drama's completion. Press, among others, were to be invited to partake in the festivities.

However, fears of infection due to mingling have prompted "Itaewon Class" to instead make this a closed event that will only be attended by cast and crew relevant to the production. The final episode of "Itaewon Class" is scheduled to air on March 21st and is expected to broadcast as planned.
"Itaewon Class" is not the only drama forced to alter plans as a result of COVID-19. "Dr. Romantic 2" and "The Game: Towards Zero" also ended up closing off parties to celebrate their completion for the same reason earlier this year. Meanwhile, "Itaewon Class" has been a stupendous success for jTBC, with its latest 14.8% ratings now the second highest ever held for a drama on the network. "SKY Castle" from last year remains in first place on that metric with an all-time high of 23.7%.
