An entertainment industry insider told JTBC Entertainment News on the 11th, "Kim Nam-gil will appear in "The Shady Lawyer", a courtroom caper drama. Filming is scheduled to begin early next year". In response, a representative from Kim Nam-gil's agency said that he is 'positively considering the offer'.
"The Shady Lawyer" revolves around personal injury lawsuits, which are considered an extremely high-risk, high-return area of civil litigation. In South Korea, approximately 12,000 civil lawsuits are filed each day, with the overall market estimated to be worth 52 trillion won.
Kim Nam-gil will play Jang Do-young, a man who dives into the cutthroat world of litigation, viewing the courtroom battlefield as the ultimate gambling arena. The drama follows a group of unconventional, B-grade lawyers who even leave criminals at a loss for words as they wage a war over money, offering comfort to those exhausted by hollow notions of law and justice.
Kim Nam-gil recently met viewers through the tvN drama "Mad Concrete Dreams" earlier this year. He has already lined up his next project, SBS's upcoming drama "Nightmare - Drama", which began filming in May with the goal of premiering early next year. With his next move already being considered at a rapid pace, Kim Nam-gil is gearing up for another busy year in 2027.
"The Shady Lawyer" will be written by screenwriter Kim Yong-hwan-I. The drama will be produced by ImagineUs and has recently been picked up by ENA for broadcast.
