[HanCinema's News] Korean Thanksgiving Box Office Sees Three Big Releases
By William Schwartz | Published on
The South Korean box office will see aggressive competition for the holiday season this coming Korean Thanksgiving, with three titles from major actors all vying for attention. The black comedy "Cobweb" with Song Kang-ho will make its premiere following its run on the international festival circuit. The horror film "Dr. Cheon and the Lost Talisman" with Gang Dong-won will also open on September 27th. Lastly, the historical epic "Road to Boston" with Ha Jung-woo will detail the 1957 Boston Marathon.

With wildly differing target audiences, any one of these films could easily see big success without taking away from the other two. But the inconsistent success of South Korean film at the country's domestic box office is such that it's just as conceivable that not even all three films put together, let alone any one individually, could crack the ten million viewer mark. "The Roundup: No Way Out" was able to do so earlier this year.
