[HanCinema's News] "Lucky Chan-sil" Confirmed for Release in Japan

On December 7th "Lucky Chan-sil" revealed that the movie would receive an official domestic release in Japan on January 8th. The news follows the re-release of "Lucky Chan-sil" at the South Korean box office on November 26th. As of this writing the movie has earned 28,961 admissions at the South Korean admissions.

These are strong numbers for an independent release, particularly as "Lucky Chan-sil" was originally released on March 5th, which was high time for the COVID-19 outbreak in South Korea. Since its release, "Lucky Chan-sil" has also had a strong run on the domestic awards circuit. Lead actress Kang Malgeum was named Best New Actress at the Baeksang Art Awards, the Buil Film Awards, and by the Korean Film Critics Association.
Kang Malgeum is also considered the presumptive frontrunner for the upcoming Blue Dragon Film Awards. "Lucky Chan-sil" has also had many appearances on the international festival circuit. These include Osaka Asian Film Festival, the Far East Film Festival at Udine, the Korean Film Festival in Paris, the Hawaii International Film Festival, the Korea Film Festival Canada, the New York Asian Film Festival, and Aichi International Women's Film Festival.
