[HanCinema's News] "Mission: Possible" Leads in First Day at the Box Office

Figures released by the Korean Film Council showed that "Mission: Possible" led all other films on its premiere this past Feburary 17th. However, as is expected in the era of COVID-19, the exact numbers are not very impressive. With only 26,010 admissions, Mission: Possible" significantly outpaced its nearest rival, Soul from Disney/Pixar, but the spy action comedy is not building up much momentum going into the weekend.

Still, "Mission: Possible" did better than "Double Patty" which premiered in fourth place on its opening day with 4,638 admissions. The drama about ambivalent young people as they try to reach their dreams was never considered a major project, being intended primarily for streaming distribution. "Double Patty" nevertheless has attracted a decent amount of attention for featuring Irene of Red Velvet in the leading role, leading to a fairly wide theatrical release.
