[HanCinema's News] Real-life "Squid Game" Statue Unveiled in Daejeon

The Expo Science Park in Daejeon recently unveiled a new sculpture- the infamous Younghee statue. In "Squid Game" the Younghee statue infamously gunned down any character who was caught breaking the rules of Red Light Green Light. The Expo Science Park was able to present the sculpture with the assistance of Netflix Korea.

As part of the same deal, a sculpture of a demon from "Hellbound" is also featured in the park. Like the Younghee statue, the demon statue itself also appears in the drama proper, as a decoration for a cult which believes that humans need to mend their sinful ways to avoid further punishment from the otherworldly beings.
The reason for the collaboration between city of Daejeon and Netflix Korea is because Netflix Korea does a great deal of location sitting in Daejeon. "Hellbound" was filmed for five months at the studio of the Daejeon Information and Culture Industry Promotion Agency. "All of Us Are Dead" was also filmed locally in Daejeon, with many scenes, particularly those involving a distinctive interior bridge, relating to local architecture.
The "Hellbound" demon sculpture has been in the park since last December. The "Squid Game" statue is a more recent addition, having been unveiled in the first half of March this year. Both sculptures will remain in the park for public viewing until next March.
