[HanCinema's News] Song Kang-ho to Make Quick Return With "Emergency Declaration"
By William Schwartz | Published on
Song Kang-ho is one of the biggest draws at the South Korean box office, but he's been curiously absent in recent years, mainly because distributors have been reluctant to screen his films during the COVID-19 pandemic. With that cloud lifting, Song Kang-ho is now set to return in August with "Emergency Declaration" which was filmed in 2020 but had been delayed indefinitely due to the pandemic. This new appearance follows up Song Kang-ho recently returning to theaters with "Broker" earlier this month.

Song Kang-ho will play a veteran detective, In-ho, who struggles with his work/life balance as his wife goes on vacation. The news of a terrorist attack aboard an airplane complicates these plans. Song Kang-ho claimed at a recent production conference that "Emergency Declaration" will a mature film, dealing with family life and social responsibilities. Song Kang-ho's character will principally collaborate with Jeon Do-yeon's character, a transport minister, on the ground.
