The 26th edition of the Shanghai International Film Festival recently confirmed that "The Roundup: Punishment" had been selected to appear at the Chinese movie event. The action cop film will be playing in the Midnight Fantasy section of the festival. While the current political situation makes it difficult to officially import South Korean films into China, the appearance of "The Roundup: Punishment" suggests a warming of relations.

"The Wailing" and "Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum" also appeared in previous iterations of the Shanghai International Film Festival in the Midnight Fantasy section. Five screenings are planned for "The Roundup: Punishment" for the festival's run from June 14th to June 23rd.
