[HanCinema's News] "When the Phone Rings" on Break This Week Due to Martial Law Controversy
By William Schwartz | Published on
MBC recently announced that the ongoing series "When the Phone Rings" will not be airing new episodes this week. A variety show has also been preempted. The reason for the preemption is the ongoing crisis in South Korea where President Yoon Suk-yeol attempted to declare martial law before backpedaling. MBC will be airing special news reports on Friday and Saturday in the affected timeslots on December 6th and December 7th.

"When the Phone Rings" had been scheduled to air its fifth and sixth episodes during those times. At present, the fifth episode of "When the Phone Rings" will instead air on December 13th. The preemption will also affect international fans of the political thriller, as Netflix can only begin streaming the episodes internationally after they've aired domestically. "When the Phone Rings" had ratings of 5.7% in its most recent episode, the fourth, which aired on November 30th.
