Clearly holding back against tears, Yoon Ji-oh suggested that a further investigation would indicate that Jang Ja-yeon's death as a murder, not a suicide. Yoon Ji-oh was flanked during her speech by feminist activists holding placards.
Yoon Ji-oh was not the only person to speak at the press conference. A victim of a past sexual assault and blackmailing also spoke out about her experiences, bitterly angry and critical about the unhelpfulness of authorities in addressing her complaints.
In general the press conference called for stronger penalties and longer investigation periods for sexual assault claims. These older cases also spotlighted the importance of reopening past investigations as necessary. Korea Women's Hotline sponsored the event.
