Human Rights Commission to Produce Second Omnibus Film
Published on | Source
Following the critical success of the 2003 film "If You Were Me 2", Korea's Human Rights Commission has confirmed the production of a second omnibus film on the topic of discrimination, to be shot by five established Korean directors.
The directors will be Ryoo Seung-wan ("Arahan"), Jang Jin ("Someone Special"), Jeong Ji-woo ("Happy End"), Kim Dong-won ("Repatriation"), and Park Kyung-hee ("A Smile").
Each director will be provided with W50 million (US$42,000) to shoot a 15-minute work that illustrates issues related to discrimination. With Ryoo Seung-wan's contribution already completed, the remaining directors are expected to wrap up production by the end of the year.
Particular attention is being paid to the project by Kim Dong-won, as it will mark the first fiction film by the award-winning documentarist. The original project 'If You Were Me 1' featured contributions by Park Chan-wook, Jeong Jae-eun and others, and has screened at a large number of international film festivals around the world.
