Hwang Dong-hyuk Comes Back With "K.O. CLUB"... Casts Lee Byung-hun and Oh Jung-se

Director Hwang Dong-hyuk, who sparked a global phenomenon with "Squid Game", is returning to the big screen with "K.O. CLUB".

According to production company Firstman Studio on the 27th, director Hwang Dong-hyuk will return to the director's chair for a theatrical film for the first time in 10 years with "K.O. CLUB". The title is short for 'Killing Oldmen Club'. Set in the near future, when even youth can be purchased with money, the film depicts the conflict between a small group of wealthy, powerful elderly people who have no intention of stepping aside and a younger generation that has been left with no opportunities.

Having proven both his artistic credibility and commercial appeal through works such as "The Fortress", "Miss Granny", and "Silenced", Hwang Dong-hyuk went on to achieve global megahit status with "Squid Game", becoming the first director of a non-English-language series to win the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing. Known for captivating audiences with his distinctive worlds, sharp social commentary, and powerful storytelling, Hwang Dong-hyuk is set to return to the big screen with an entirely new story.

The film has also assembled a star-studded ensemble cast, with Lee Byung-hun, Oh Jung-se, Park Hae-soo, Cho Yeo-jeong, and Kim So-jin confirmed to appear. Lee Byung-hun and Park Hae-soo will reunite with Hwang following the "Squid Game" series, while Oh Jung-se, who has recently won acclaim for the films "Wild Sing" and the drama "We Are All Trying Here" will be making his first appearance in one of Hwang Dong-hyuk's projects. Expectations are also high for Hwang Dong-hyuk's collaboration with Cho Yeo-jeong, known for "Hidden Face" and "Parasite", and Kim So-jin, who appeared in "The Man Standing Next" and "Drug King".

"K.O. CLUB" will be produced by Firstman Studio, founded by Kim Ji-yeon and Hwang Dong-hyuk, the producers behind the "Squid Game" series. Firstman Studio, which gave birth to the "Squid Game" franchise, is currently presenting a variety of projects, including the Coupang Play series "The Affair Was Just The Beginning". "K.O. CLUB" is scheduled to begin filming in the first half of 2027.
