Im Kwon-taek to teach at PIFF's Asian Film Academy

The Pusan International Film Festival (PIFF) has named Im Kwon-taek as the dean of this year's Asian Film Academy. Im is one of Korea's internationally renowned directors, who won the Best Director award at the 2002 Cannes Film Festival for "Chihwaseon".
The Asian Film Academy received 143 applications and selected 24 talented film makers from 19 countries to study the craft of filmmaking. Besides Im Kwon-taek, they will also be taught by: director Darezhan Omirbayev (Kazakhstan), cinematographer Takama Kenji (Japan), veteran director Bae Chang-ho (Korea) and cinematographer Park Gi-woong (Korea).
The film making workshop is scheduled to overlap with the film festival, starting on September 19 and lasting for three weeks. The first Asian Film Academy was held at last year's 10thedition of the Pusan International Film Festival and Taiwanese director Hou Hsiao-hsien headed the staff. The academy is co-hosted by the Pusan International Film Festival, Korean Academy of Film Arts (KAFA) and Dongseo University.
