According to YTN Star on May 29th, Jang Dong-yoon has been cast as the leading candidate for the role of boxer Jang Jeong-goo in "Promoter", a human sports drama based on the true story of Shim Young-ja, the world's first female boxing ' promoter ', and the hardworking boxer Jang Jeong-goo. In the series, Jang Dong-yoon is set to portray the naturally gifted fighter, showcasing both his boxing skills and regional dialect acting in what promises to be a fresh transformation as an actor.

The role is a natural fit for Jang Dong-yoon, who has long practiced boxing as a hobby. Last year, he participated in the 4th Namhansanseong Cup National Amateur Boxing Championship, where he earned a victory and was named the tournament's Most Valuable Boxer. His proven athletic ability is expected to add authenticity to the character.

Jang Dong-yoon first gained public attention in 2015 while attending Hanyang University, after helping apprehend a convenience store robber. The incident was featured in the news, earning him the nickname 'the handsome college student who caught a robber'. The unexpected publicity eventually led him into the entertainment industry. Given his strong sense of responsibility and athletic talent, many expect him to bring depth and realism to the sports drama.

For the production team, Jang Dong-yoon's potential casting comes as welcome news. Actor Park Jihoon, who had previously received an offer for the role, reportedly declined after several months of consideration, leaving the project searching for a new lead. With Jang Dong-yoon now in discussions, preparations for filming can move forward once again.

Jang Dong-yoon is known for his performances in dramas such as "School 2017", "Mr. Sunshine", "The Tale of Nokdu", "Daily Dose of Sunshine", and "Queen Mantis". Last month, he also expanded his career into directing with his feature-length directorial debut, "The Yeast", demonstrating his versatility both in front of and behind the camera.
