According to a broadcasting insider on the 7th, Kang Han-na has been cast in director Hur Jin-ho's new drama "Whale Star".
In the series, Kang plays Han Yeon-kyeong, a character known for her cold rationality and decisiveness. Han Yeon-kyeong is a member of the secret organization "Whale Star", as well as the wealthiest figure in Gunsan and a lady from a prestigious family. After losing her husband to torture during the Japanese occupation, she rises like a phoenix to fight for Korea's independence.
Based on the Naver webtoon of the same name, "Whale Star" is a 12-episode period romance set in Gyeongseong, inspired by "The Little Mermaid". It tells the story of Kang Eui-hyeon (Choi Wooshik), a man who devotes everything to his country during the anti-Japanese independence movement, and Heo Soo-ah (Mun Ka-young), a woman who risks her life to protect him. The drama also stars Heo Nam-jun and Gong Seung-yeon.
The series will be directed by Hur Jin-ho, known for "Christmas in August" and "The Last Princess", and written by Lee Han-eol, who previously worked on "The Last Princess" and "One Fine Spring Day". Filming is set to begin later this month.
Meanwhile, Kang Han-na received much love last year for her roles in "Bon Appetit, Your Majesty" and "Cashero", and was recently cast in the film "High School Detective".
