Kangta to Promote Culture Exchange with China

Singer Kangta has been named the goodwill ambassador for the 2007 South Korea-China cultural exchange year.

The former member of the boy band HOT will officially be appointed at the Foreign Ministry on Friday and begin activities.

This year's designation was decided when Chinese President Hu Jintao visited Seoul last year. The two countries agreed to hold various cultural exchanges to mark 2007, the 15th year of bilateral relations. The singer was named to promote the cause as he is highly popular and active in both countries.

Kangta will attend a Foreign Ministry ceremony on Friday to receive a plaque from Minister Song Min-soon.

He said, "I'm honored by the appointment. I will strive harder to help boost the two countries' friendship".
