Kim Mu-yeol to Become a Black Agent in "Mr. Barcode"

Actor Kim Mu-yeol, who is enjoying the most successful period of his career since his debut, thanks to the Netflix series "Teach You a Lesson", is set to continue his prolific run by considering a hard-boiled action drama as his next project.

According to YTN Star on the 24th, Kim Mu-yeol has been shortlisted for the lead role in SBS's upcoming drama "Mr. Barcode". The series tells the story of an elite black-ops agent who unexpectedly becomes a father overnight, loses his job, and ends up running a convenience store, all while cleaning up 'human trash' lurking around the city. The new drama will be co-produced by Studio S and Neo Entertainment. Regarding the casting report, an SBS representative stated, "It is true that the offer was made, but it is currently under review".

Kim Mu-yeol recently reached a new career high through "Teach You a Lesson", showcasing the depth of his acting experience. Playing Na Hwa-jin, an inspector with the Office of Educational Rights Protection, he effortlessly handled everything from nuanced emotional scenes to comedy and action, not only leading the series' success but also attracting global attention. His personal social media following has surpassed one million, underscoring his soaring popularity.

Having already confirmed his appearances in the upcoming Netflix series "First Doctor", directed by "Teach You a Lesson" director Hong Jong-chan, and "Grandma", another Netflix series based on the webtoon of the same name, Kim Mu-yeol is now expected to take on yet another new challenge with the action drama "Mr. Barcode". The release schedule for "Mr. Barcode" has yet to be finalized.
