승리의 시작 | seung-ri-eui si-jak

Documentary

Directed by Kwon Soon-do (권순도)

87min | Release date in South Korea:

Synopsis
The Korean War of June 25, 1950. The battle of Dabudong at the final defensive line! Had Dabudong been breached, Daegu and Busan would have fallen in succession, and South Korea would have disappeared from the map. The South Korean and UN forces, who had suffered continuous defeats, turned the tide and achieved 'the beginning of victory' through a miraculous turnaround—led by General Baek Seon-yeop!

The film "Act of Victory" is a biographical documentary that portrays the life of a hero, starting from his childhood, which had long remained unknown to many.

This work, based on extensive coverage spanning 22 years since 2003, features never-before-seen footage of General Baek Seon-yeop during his lifetime, rare records, and compelling narratives from domestic and international military and history experts, as well as field commanders and war veterans who participated in actual combat, vividly conveying the battle situations.

Despite dedicating his entire body and soul to his country, General Baek Seon-yeop was accused of being a pro-Japanese collaborator. When he passed away in 2020, he quietly disappeared into history. Yet, the hero never truly left—because even at this moment, his patriotic spirit continues to resonate.

Through "Act of Victory", Baek Seon-yeop reminds us what the Korean War was and why we must cherish and protect South Korea.
