Synopsis
Jae-i, a promising young writer, is about to publish her new book. Geon-woo, Jae-i's roommate and lover, works as an English instructor at a private institute and silently assists Jae-i. Both of them care about each other and are happy as they are. However, Jae-i's unplanned pregnancy brings huge changes, causing conflicts between the two. Jae-i becomes sensitive due to the combined pressures of pregnancy and publishing demands, and Geon-woo sets up an academy running a risk. Birth is an ominously subtle work, the dark themes of which already seem to take shape in the early scene in which Jae-i and Geon-woo sit at the breakfast table and have a peaceful conversation about a dream. Birth is a sensitive meditation and careful reflection on those in need of life. JUNG Hanseok
