Synopsis
In Netflix Korea's first original animated film, astronaut Nan-yeong and musician Je-i embark on the longest-ever long-distance relationship - one that bridges Earth and Mars. Kim Tae-ri (Twenty-Five Twenty-One, Space Sweepers) takes on her first voice-acting role as scientist Nan-yeong. Determined to trace her mother's steps to Mars after her failed return to Earth, Nan-yeong is selected for the 4th Mars exploration project in 2050. Je-i, voiced by rising star Hong Kyung ("Hear Me: Our Summer", "Weak Hero Class 1"), is a musician who also repairs retro audio equipment. After their first encounter, an old turntable that Nan-yeong inherited from her mother brings them together again by fate, sparking a wistful, sweet romance that transcends the distance between Earth and Mars. Writer-director Han Ji-won-I, known for her innovative short and mid-length animations and advertisements, also penned the screenplay for this film. Her recent short film, The Sea on the Day When the Magic Returns, was selected for the Sundance Film Festival, elevating her status in Korean animation.
