Synopsis
A man who invested everything he has to secure his own place, an 84-square-meter apartment, is plagued by unidentified noises coming from the other units in this mystery thriller. 84 square meters, which is also the Korean title of the film, refers to the most common, average-sized apartment for Koreans, and symbolizes the harsh housing realities they face today. The lead character Woo-seong is played by Kang Ha-neul, who has portrayed relatable young men of diverse characters and temperament in "Squid Game - Season 2" and "When the Camellia Blooms". Woo-seong, a thirty-something working professional, maxes out his savings, investments, loans and even the equity in his mother's garlic field to secure his lifetime dream of having his own place, but the reality he faces is harsh with high interest payment obligations. The noises from the other units and run-ins with the neighbors grate on his nerves even more, and Kang realistically portrays the precarious emotional landscape of this stressed-out young man. Eun-hwa, the president of the residents association who wants to keep peace in the building complex, is played by Yeom Hye-ran, who delivered compelling performances in "The Glory", "Mask Girl", and "When the Camellia Blooms". Jin-ho, the man who lives above Woo-seong and sets out together to find the origins of the noise, is played by Seo Hyun-woo, who has portrayed genre-crossing, unique characters in works such as "Decision to Leave" and "My Name Is Loh Kiwan". Anticipation is growing for "Wall to Wall", director Kim Tae-joon-IV's second project to once again create a thriller set in realistic, everyday situations, following his successful debut with "Unlocked".
