Lee Ji-eun and Byeon Woo-seok's First Collaboration on MBC

The drama "The 21st Century Grand Prince's Wife" has been decided as an MBC Friday-Saturday drama. The lineup includes Lee Ji-eun, Byeon Woo-seok, Noh Sang-hyun and Gong Seung-yeon has also been confirmed. Filming will begin soon with the goal of airing in the first half of next year.

"The 21st Century Grand Prince's Wife" is set in the 21st Century's constitutional monarchy. It depicts a romance between Seong Hee-joo (Lee Ji-eun), a chaebol woman who is a commoner, and the king's son Grand Pince Yi An (Byeon Woo-seok).

Lee Ji-eun plays Seong Hee-joo, the second chaebol family member and a competent businesswoman. She has a perfect appearance and intelligence, but she is frustrated with her status as a commoner. She chooses to marry Lee An-dae to gain status.

Byeon Woo-seok plays the king's second son, Prince Yi An. He is a beloved royal but cannot have anything. He is a cold but deep-seated character who changes when he meets Seong Hee-joo.

The lineup of supporting actors is also impressive. Steve Sanghyun Noh will play the role of Prime Minister Min Jeong-woo. Born in a prestigious political family, he is a friend of Prince Yi An and a senior at Seong Hee-joo's school. The two of them face subtle feelings.

Gong Seung-yeon plays Yoon I-rang, who comes from a queen's family. She defines her fate as 'the queen'. Under any circumstances, she constantly struggles to become the queen.

The drama is directed by Park Joon-hwa. He is a veteran of directing ""Title for Members Only" and "Alchemy of Souls: Light and Shadow". He was loved by viewers for his sensuous videos and detailed romance production.

MBC's executive producer Kang Dae-seon said, ""The 21st Century Grand Prince's Wife" is the winning work of the MBC script contest in 2022", adding, "It is an attractive work that stands out with fresh material, attractive characters, and solid story".
