According to TV Report's coverage on the 20th, Lee Joo-bin has been cast in the courtroom caper series "The Shady Lawyer". Her agency confirmed, "It is true that she has received an offer to appear, and she is positively considering it". The series is reportedly scheduled to begin filming early next year.
According to sources, Lee Joo-bin will play Cha Ha-kyeong, a wealthy, privileged lawyer who craves victory more than money.
"The Shady Lawyer" is a courtroom caper centered on damages lawsuits, considered one of the highest-risk, highest-reward areas of civil litigation. Some 12,000 civil lawsuits are filed each day, with the overall market estimated at 52 trillion won.
In the series, B-list lawyers who can even leave criminals speechless dive into a massive "War of Money", offering a different kind of comfort to those exhausted by a hollow system of law and justice.
Kim Nam-gil was previously reported to have been cast as Jang Do-yeong, a man who sees the brutal world of litigation as the ultimate gambling table and throws himself into it. Lee Joo-bin will play Cha Ha-kyeong, who pursues victory over money, and is expected to battle her way through the fierce legal arena alongside Kim Nam-gil.
Lee Joo-bin has recently been expanding her presence as a leading actress and continuing her active career. In tvN's "Spring Fever" which ended in February, she played Yoon Bom, a high school ethics teacher living with wounds from her past, and shared a romantic storyline with Ahn Bo-hyun. The finale recorded an average nationwide rating of 5.7% and a peak of 6.9% among paid platforms, marking the drama's highest ratings of the series.
Having showcased a wide range of characters in projects including "Queen of Tears" and "The Divorce Insurance", Lee Joo-bin stepped into the center of a romantic comedy in "Spring Fever" and will now transform into a wealthy, privileged lawyer in "The Shady Lawyer". As she continues to broaden her acting spectrum across different genres and characters, attention is focused on what new side of herself she will reveal through Cha Ha-kyeong.
"The Shady Lawyer" will be written by Kim Yong-hwan-I and produced by Imagineus. The series is reportedly set to air on ENA.
