In this comic satire, a corrupt detective named Chung-su (Lee Moon-sik) is on ambush duty on a remote island called "Mapado" off a southern port of South Korea along with macho man Jae-chul (Lee Jung-jin), in search of a woman who has concealed her whereabouts after hiding 16 billion won _ prize money from a lottery originally won by Jae-cheol's boss. To their surprise, the island is inhabited by five strong-willed grandmothers who share all production, distribution, labor and possessions together on an equal basis. Moreover, 20 years have passed since the five Amazonian women have last seen any men. From the time they arrive on the island, the two sturdy men are exploited by the old women. Tickets: 3,000 won. Seoul Arts Cinema are now screening two representative works each by 10 local independent filmmakers through July 12 to show how each filmmaker's works have changed over the years and how the trends of independent films have changed. The event also offers sessions in which directors talk about their works along with film critics and audiences at a cafe in the theater on July 11. Films screening during the event include "The World Cup of Their Own Version 2.0" and "Hitchhiking" by Choi Jin-sung and "Wounded" and "How to Operate a Polaroid Camera" by Kim Jong-kwan.
