Musical Actor Booked Over Hit-and-Run Accident

Musical actor Son Seung-won was indicted for crashing into a car and fleeing the scene while driving under influence without a license on Wednesday.

According to police, Son crashed into a car while making an illegal left turn in Cheongdam-dong, Seoul early Wednesday morning. Two people sustained minor injuries.

Son tried to flee the scene and drove 150 m before other drivers who witnessed the accident blocked his way with their cars.

Son's blood-alcohol level was 0.206 percent well above the limit for his license to be revoked. But he did not have a valid license in the first place since it had already been revoked for driving under influence back in August.

Son, who made his debut as a musical actor in 2009, will become the first celebrity to be subject to the new toughened law against drunk driving after a conscript died last month after being hit by a drunk driver in Busan while on leave.
