Onew of Boy Band SHINee Enlists in Military

Onew became the first member of the boy band SHINee to begin mandatory military service.

His management agency SM Entertainment said Monday that Onew enlisted in the military.

Onew's bandmates gave him a send-off, but no other details of his enlistment were released, in line with his wishes to keep it quiet.

Following five weeks of basic military training, Onew will be on active duty for 18 months.
