[Orion's Daily Ramblings] Lee Na-young Joins Lee Jong-suk in "Romance is a Bonus Book"

Lee Na-young is coming back to Dramaland, joining Lee Jong-suk in romantic comedy "Romance is a Bonus Book". This is definitely not the return I was expecting from the actress, who has been absent from Korean drama for 8 years since her work in "The Fugitive Plan B". While the genre threw me off, her character is one many will find almost painfully relatable.

Lee Na-young plays Kang Dan-yi, a woman who has fallen off the high qualifications grid in her career. A once successful copywriter, Dan-yi is a woman whose career was cut short, and who suddenly finds herself living in poverty. After constantly failing to land a job due to being overqualified, she fakes her educational background, and gets hired by the company of Cha Eun-ho (Lee Jong-suk), gaining a new life. I can definitely see this happening in a corporate culture too greedy to compensate, and creative work in particular is notoriously underpaid.
When asked about her choice of this work as her drama comeback project, Lee Na-young commented "The script, which is brimming with the warmth and pleasantness of writer Jeong Hyeon-jeong, moved me. I am also looking forward to working with PD Lee Jeong-hyo. I am excited to meet viewers with a warm work after such a long time". I have no clue what to expect of this pairing chemistry-wise, but we'll find out when "Romance is a Bonus Book" airs, sometime in the first half of next year.
