[Orion's Daily Ramblings] The Abusive Duo and the Emotional Detective of "Mother - Drama"
By Vasia Orion | Published on
"Mother - Drama" is premiering tomorrow and as I remember very little about the original, I am curious about some of the characters here. Jo Han-chul's detective is definitely one of those, as he finds himself right in the middle of the moral dilemma that Hye-na's abuse at the hands of her mother and her mother's boyfriend creates.

Jo Han-chul plays Chang-geun, a father of three and a charismatic, persistent detective. Being a loving father himself, Chang-geun cannot forgive or ignore crimes against children. Hye-na's (Heo Yool) case is therefore quite a challenging one for him. The detective knows that he has to follow the law and capture Soo-jin (Lee Bo-young), yet he cannot help but wonder; should the law be enforced in these cases?
The series has also released stills of its abusive couple, Ja-yeong (Ko Sung-hee) and Seol-ak (Son Sukku). I haven't seen a lot of their relationship in the original and there may obviously be changes here, but the couple looks as nasty as I remember. Seol-ak's character is a monster and I hope he's appropriately creepy. Ja-yeong is a complete mess and I hope Ko Sung-hee can adequately portray that.
It looks like "Mother - Drama" will be subtitled, so thank the Dramagods for that. I look forward to tomorrow's episode and I hope that this is a series which will touch viewers' minds and hearts, but also challenge our morality. See you on the other side of the premiere episode, folks.
