Peter Jackson's Studio to Work With Korean Company

Park Road Post, the New Zealand-based post production company well known for the Hollywood movie trilogy "Lord of the Rings" is expected to work with a local film company.

Daesung Group announced Wednesday that it will sign a memorandum of understanding next Monday with the New Zealand-based film studio founded by Peter Jackson in order to develop and promote the local movie industry in the international film market.

The measure may help create a joint venture firm between Jackson's Park Road Post and the group's venture capital investment subsidiary Binext in the future, an official from Daesung Group said.

Daesung Group has invested money in local movies such as "Oldboy", "Marathon" and "The Big Swindle" while Park Road Post did post-production work on the "Ring" series and "The Last Samurai".

Details of the deal will be made public at a news conference on March 21. Guests at the conference will include Sue Thompson, chief executive officer of Park Road Post, David Taylor, New Zealand ambassador to Seoul and Kim Young-hoon, president of Daesung Group.
