PIFF Becomes Cinema Paradise for Movie Buffs
Published on | Source
We go down to the country's southeastern port city of Busan, where an international film festival is currently in full swing.
The 12th PIFF is the largest cinema event in Asia, which looks to transform itself into a cinema paradise by getting in tune with the audience's needs and wants.
Our Kang Chery has this report.
The Pusan International Film Festival has attracted star-gazers from all over the country and abroad with numerous actors and filmmakers hitting key venues amid a festive mood.
Festival organizers are aiming to transform the event from a movie party into the ultimate cinema showcase.
This year, the festival in collaboration with a cable movie channel is broadcasting its main events live to keep audiences up-to-date.
And this year PIFF has made ticket purchasing easier by offering more ticketing channels both online and offline.
The festival is also giving movie buffs more chances to see a steady stream of celebrated filmmakers.
Crowds went wild as their favorite actors and directors shared their stories right in front of their eyes.
Korean actress Jeon Do-yeon, the best actress award winner at this year's Cannes Film Festival, and Kang Soo-yeon, sharing the same honor at the 1987 Venice Film Festival, were also together in Pusan, for a public interview of Korea's two big starlets.
And of course, every film fest must have its awards.
Each year, PIFF selects distinguished film professionals for a hand printing ceremony honoring their careers by preserving their handprints permanently.
This largest of Asian cinema events is set to end on October 12 giving fans almost one more week to take in all the cinematic experiences.
