South Korea and Singapore have signed a cooperation agreement on film production, said Kim Ji-seok, a programmer of the Pusan International Film Festival.
The agreement was signed by Ahn Jung-sook, chairwoman of the Korean Film Council (KOFIC), and Tan Chin Nam, chairman of the Media Development Authority of Singapore, at the Asia Film Market & Conference held in Singapore, on Nov. 30-Dec. 2. The signing of the agreement was realized just as the National Assembly of South Korea ratified on Dec. 1 a bill on the "Korean-Singapore Free Trade Agreement (KSFTA)", which was concluded between the governments of the two countries on Aug. 4, 2004.
Earlier on, the KOFIC signed a memorandum of understanding with New Zealand on Nov. 17 to cooperate in the film industry, and also concluded an agreement on joint production of films with the "Centre Nationale Cinematographique" (CNC) of France in 2002.
