Singer Lee Seung-chul booked for drunk driving

Popular singer Lee Seung-chul has had his driver's license revoked for drunk driving, police said.

Lee, 44, was booked without physical detention on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act.

He was caught driving a Cadillac near a subway station in Shindang-dong, Seoul, around 1:30 a.m. Monday with a blood alcohol content of 0.125, the legal requirement for revoking one's driver's license.

Lee said he drank five cups of beer in a meeting with employees of his company, a police officer said.

After undergoing questioning Lee was allowed to go home, the officer said.



이승철 음주운전 면허 취소

서울 중부경찰서는 15일 술을 마시고 차를 운전한 혐의(도로교통법 위반)로 가수 이승철(44)씨를 불구속 입건하고 면허를 취소했다.

이씨는 이날 오전 1시30분쯤 서울 신당동 버티고개 앞에서 면허 취소에 해당하는 혈줄 알코올 농도 0.125%의 상태로 자신의 캐딜락 승용차를 몰고 가다 단속 중인 경찰에 적발됐다.

경찰 조사에서 이씨는 "소속사 직원들과 회식자리에서 맥주 5잔을 마셨다"고 음주 사실을 시인했다.
