Yang, who rose to fame with boy band Seo Taiji and Boys in the 1990s and nurtured the agency into one of the top 3 in Korea, is suspected of offering prostitutes to foreign investors.

The MBC investigative program "Straight" reported last month that Yang rented a posh restaurant in July of 2014 and threw a lavish party for two Southeast Asian tycoons. He allegedly invited prostitutes to the dinner who offered their services to the tycoons.

A police spokesman said Yang was summoned as a witness. Earlier, police questioned a dozen women who were present at the dinner party.

They also questioned pop star Psy, who was also present.

Yang quit as head of YG Entertainment earlier this month after a series of sex and drug scandals involving top artists in his stable.
