More than half the drama was already pre-made at the start and writer Noh Hee-kyeong had completed writing it a month before the ending date. It was called the flawless drama as there were no scraps of edits and overnight shootings. This is another reason why no extensions were made.
A spokesperson for the drama said, "There were many requests for extra episodes but we had already perfected everything to episode sixteen>"
Meanwhile, "That Winter, the Wind Blows" drew the attention of the Hong Kong International Film Festival. A buyer who bought the rights to the drama in Malaysia said, "The Hallyu fans are crazy about this drama. They want to meet Zo In-sung and Song Hye-kyo. We want to have them over as guests before we start airing it in Malaysia".
