According to a representative from Lee Yoo-mi's agency on the 11th, the actress has received an offer to star in "Nightmare - Drama" and is positively reviewing the proposal.
"Nightmare - Drama" is an SF hero drama that depicts a world where AI (artificial intelligence) infiltrates human dreams and designs nightmares for criminals. The story follows a dark hero who delivers nightmares to criminals, a punishment that prevents them from sleeping peacefully for even a single day, instead of sending them to prison. At the heart of the series is a unique narrative about technology capable of manipulating the human subconscious and the massive crimes surrounding it.
Lee Yoo-mi has been offered the role of Jang Gyoo-eun, a police officer who carries the scars of a tragic childhood accident. Gyoo-eun is a character who relentlessly pushes forward in pursuit of revenge after overcoming a traumatic past.
Lee Yoo-mi has previously showcased her exceptional ability to portray extreme human emotions in works such as the films "Park Hwa-young" and "Hostage: Missing Celebrity", as well as the Netflix series "Squid Game" and "All of Us Are Dead", and the JTBC drama "Strong Girl Nam-soon". In particular, her recent project "As You Stood By" earned critical praise for her harrowing portrayal of a victim of domestic violence, vividly capturing the pale and withered pain of a suffering human being. Expectations are high that she will once again deliver a dense and emotionally intense performance in "Nightmare - Drama", portraying a character pushed to the brink.
Kim Nam-gil is likely to play Lee's counterpart. He has also received an offer to star in "Nightmare - Drama" and is reportedly reviewing it positively. Kim Nam-gil is expected to portray Kim Tae-i, a detective who handles dangerous investigations within the police. Tae-i is a character with a strong sense of justice despite losing his parents at an early age. Notably, he fights criminals with a knife instead of a gun, making him a distinctive and unconventional figure.
The chemistry between the two actors, both known for their powerful performances, is expected to be a key highlight of this heavy crime-hero series.
"Nightmare - Drama" is currently in the pre-production stage and is expected to begin filming soon.
