According to a MyDaily report on the 3rd, Yeom Hye-ran has joined the new drama "New Village" as a lead cast member.
Yeom Hye-ran will play Se-ra, a former special forces frontman who is now a factory manager. At first glance, she appears to be an ordinary rural housewife. With her straightforward personality, blunt way of speaking, and energetic, action-oriented nature, she is a strong presence, but she carries a remarkable secret from her past.
"New Village" follows former special agents who move to the countryside hoping to forget their pasts and live quietly. However, incidents begin occurring in what was once a peaceful village, gradually exposing their true identities. It is a story about extraordinary people who simply want to live ordinary lives.
The drama is based on the Naver webtoon of the same name by writer Im Sung-hoon, which was published in 2023. It tells the story of people starting the second chapter of their lives after building a community called "New Village" in a remote mountain village. The series is an action noir black comedy, with Han Suk-kyu playing the central character Sin Ki-woo.
The drama will be directed by Lee Myeong-woo, known for "The Fiery Priest" and "Backstreet Rookie", while the screenplay is written by Park Beom-soo-I, who directed films such as "Single in Seoul" and "Victory".
