'Pride and Prejudice' Choi Min-soo rejects award and makes indirect comment about Sewol ferry

Even though Choi Min-soo was awarded Golden Acting Award from MBC Drama Awards, he rejected it. His explanation statement Baek Jin-hee read, when she was picking up the award at the venue for him, was truncated in the middle .

Choi Min-soo was selected as the Golden Acting Award winner for his role in "Pride and Prejudice" at MBC Drama Awards, which took place on December 30th but he did not attend the event.

Actress Baek Jin-hee from "Pride and Prejudice" came up to receive the award for him and read the statement starting with "I respectfully reject the award". But some part of it disappeared so the full content was not delivered. Baek Jin-hee commented "Even though he rejected the award, I will deliver the award to him well".

Through the statement Baek Jin-hee read for him, he introduced himself using the character name of "Pride and Prejudice", "Hello,This is Moon Hee-man, Chief Prosecutor of The Stability of People's Livelihood team. I would like to thank MBC, director Kim Jin-min-I, and writer Lee Hyeon-joo for allowing me at this older age the opportunity to participate in this meaningful drama. Most importantly I'd like to thank all the viewers of the drama as well as our Incheon branch office of The Stability of People's Livelihood team".

It continued "However, I am living a life of prosecutor's, who enforces laws these days, especially in a situation like this. I can receive an award only when I did something good? Right? Therefore I am sorry but I am rejecting the award respectfully", which caused surprise to the audience.

There was indeed more to the statement, which was cut off in the middle. Choi Min-soo also said "Let's say it is at least my minimum morality to show for the conscience and hope drowned deep down in the cold ocean, especially in this social situation where the truth and conscience have lost its values. I still hope you would continue to love our drama, "Pride and Prejudice" until it ends though. Would you?"

Even though he used metaphor, he mentioned about the Sewol tragedy happened on April 16th. During his previous interview with Star News, he had mentioned he as an adult felt sorrowful and responsible for the accident.
