Lee Do-hyun Joins "Nambeol", Set to Play Lee Byung-hun's Right-Hand Man

Actor Lee Do-hyun is set to begin his full-fledged return to the big screen after completing his military service, joining the upcoming film "Nambeol".

On July 20th, production company Hive Media Corp. officially announced Lee Do-hyun's casting.

Set in the early Joseon Dynasty, "Nambeol" is a large-scale historical action film that follows nine warriors who embark on a perilous mission to Tsushima Island to rescue captives taken by Japanese pirates.

Lee Do-hyun will portray Bo-kyeong, a skilled warrior who leads the vanguard of the anti-pirate expedition. As the trusted right-hand man to the expedition's commander Im Eok, Bo-kyeong will share the screen with Lee Byung-hun.

Go Youn-jung has been cast as Ae-ryeong, a woman whose family is killed in a pirate attack. Determined to rescue her younger sibling, who has been taken captive to Tsushima Island, she enters the battlefield herself.

The film will mark the feature directorial debut of Lee Mo-gae, the acclaimed cinematographer behind visually striking films such as "12.12: The Day", "Exhuma", and "Hunt".

"Nambeol" is currently in pre-production and is scheduled to begin filming in the second half of this year.

Meanwhile, Lee Do-hyun was discharged from the Republic of Korea Air Force Band in May after completing his mandatory military service. Since his return, he has been receiving numerous offers across television, film, and advertising, with "Nambeol" expected to showcase a new side of the actor on the big screen.
