In a recent press release, Netflix confirmed that "Mantis" is in its new lineup. The action film is a spin-off of "Kill Boksoon" from 2023. Yim Si-wan will play the title character Mantis, an A-Class killer, with Park Gyu-young playing his rival Jae-i from their time together as apparentice assassins. Jo Woo-jin will play Dok-go, a legendary killer. Purportedly all three of them will face off together for stakes that are as yet unknown.

None of the three confirmed actors appeared in the original film. Lee Tae-sung-I, the assistant director of "Kill Boksoon" with a long history of assistant directing credits going back to 2007, will debut here as writer/director of "Mantis" writ large. "Kill Boksoon" was a decent success for Netflix last year, earning around 64 million hours viewed in its first seven weeks of availability worldwide. "Mantis" is expecting to see its own worldwide release sometime next year.
