On October 13th inside sources confirmed to press that funding has been secured for the upcoming movie "Noryang: Deadly Sea" by director Kim Han-min. "Noryang: Deadly Sea" is to be the second sequel to "The Admiral: Roaring Currents", following "Hansan: Rising Dragon" which is currently set to be released early next year. Director Kim Han-min is behind all three projects, which he has envisioned as a trilogy depicting the legendary admiral Yi Sun-sin.

"The Admiral: Roaring Currents" would seem an obvious candidate for sequels, due to the fact that it is the highest grossing film of all time at the South Korean box office. But on the funding end for "Hansan: Rising Dragon" and "Noryang: Deadly Sea" due to disputes over who should benefit from the likely profits of future films. While "The Admiral: Roaring Currents" was funded by CJ Entertainment, "Hansan: Rising Dragon" was funded by Lotte Entertainment and "Noryang: Deadly Sea" will be funded by AceMaker.
Kim Han-min also made the documentary entitled "The Admiral's Path". All three fictional admiral movies will also have different actors in the leading role. While Choi Min-sik played the admiral in "The Admiral: Roaring Currents", he will be played by Park Hae-il in "Hansan: Rising Dragon" and Kim Yun-seok in "Noryang: Deadly Sea". Both "Hansan: Rising Dragon" and "Noryang: Deadly Sea" are expected to be released next year.
