The new year opens on a note of heart-fluttering romance with the Korean rom-com series "Can This Love Be Translated?". Arriving January 16, the story follows a delightfully topsy-turvy romance between Joo Ho-jin, a multilingual interpreter, and Cha Moo-hee, a world-famous celebrity - and the newly released teaser offers a glimpse of the irresistible chemistry between the two.

Beloved by fans for his roles in "When Life Gives You Tangerines", "Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha", and "Start Up", Kim Seon-ho stars as Ho-jin, bringing both charm and heart to the character. Opposite him is Go Youn-jung, a rising global favorite from Sweet Home, "Alchemy of Souls: Light and Shadow", and "Resident Playbook". Together, their lovely chemistry is already sparking great excitement as a swoon-worthy kickoff to the new year.
Furthermore, "Can This Love Be Translated?" is written by the Hong Sisters, Hong Jeong-eun and Hong Mi-ran - the iconic duo behind "Alchemy of Souls", "Hotel Del Luna", and "Master's Sun" - and directed by Yoo Yeong-eun-I ("Bloody Heart"), known for her elegant mise-en-scène and emotional storytelling. Filmed across stunning locations in Japan, Canada, Italy, and more, the series is set to deliver a sweeping visual journey worthy of its cross-border love story.
The newly released teaser poster and trailer set the stage for a romance built on both connection and miscommunication, showing that sometimes the hardest language to understand is that of the heart. As Joo Ho-jin and Cha Moo-hee navigate their growing feelings, the story explores the challenge of expressing emotions across personal and emotional barriers, proving that even the best interpreter can struggle when it comes to love.
The contrast between Ho-jin's calm, methodical nature and Moo-hee's unpredictable energy promises a fresh, dynamic interplay. The arrival of Hiro (Sota Fukushi, a charismatic figure known as "Japan's Romance Prince", adds a new twist, raising questions about how love and jealousy are communicated - and sometimes lost - in translation.
The previously released date announcement poster captures Ho-jin and Moo-hee standing back-to-back, their earphones hinting at their connection. The softly blurred word " love", scribbled in multiple languages across the image, alludes to a romance shaped by moments lost in translation and the delicate art of understanding one another.
"Can This Love Be Translated?" premieres on January 16, only on Netflix.
