Synopsis
In 1909, the Korean Empire was in danger of losing its sovereignty to Japan. Lieutenant General An Jung-geun of the Korean Empire's volunteer army and his comrades resolved to fight for independence as mere allies, and Empress Myeongseong's maid Seol-hee also joined the independence movement. October 26, 1909, Harbin Station. Gunshots rang out as Japanese Prime Minister Itō Hirobumi stepped into Harbin Station with the ambition of Japan-Korea annexation. Lieutenant General An Jung-geun of the Korean Empire's volunteer army, father of three children, and a trustworthy husband, assassinated Itō Hirobumi for the sake of his people and independence. An Jung-geun claimed that he was a prisoner of war who, in his capacity as a lieutenant general in the Korean Empire's volunteer army, killed Itō Hirobumi, the leader of an enemy country who had taken away his country, but a Japanese court ruled that An Jung-geun was a terrorist who had violated international law and sentenced him to death.
